About Sophie Watson

Sophie Watson lives in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland and balances art and craft tutoring with illustration jobs and her own artistic projects. She studied printmaking at Elam School of Fine Arts and completed a post graduate diploma in illustration at AUT.

A restless experimenter by nature, her varied interests feed into a diverse practice which spans painting, drawing, printmaking, comics, paper craft, collage, 3-D works, textile art and making zines. These disparate mediums are united through a characteristic wonky charm, deft touch, and wry sense of humour.

Sophie has tutored at Studio One Toi Tū, the Mairangi Arts Centre and the Mt Albert Community Club (MACC).
